FocalPoint and STMicroelectronics have entered into a commercial agreement to bring an enhanced global navigation satellite system (GNSS) solution to the automotive market, aiming to improve vehicle positioning accuracy in challenging environments.
The agreement builds on a collaboration between the two companies announced in May 2025 and marks the commercial launch of their combined S-GNSS Auto and Teseo solution. The technology is designed to improve GNSS performance in areas where conventional satellite navigation systems often face difficulties, including dense urban environments, tree-covered roads and locations affected by signal interference.
The joint offering combines FocalPoint’s S-GNSS Auto software with STMicroelectronics’ Teseo GNSS receivers. According to the companies, the solution can be deployed through a firmware upgrade to existing Teseo devices, allowing automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers to enhance positioning performance without significant hardware changes.
The software is powered by FocalPoint’s patented Supercorrelation technology, which is intended to improve navigation accuracy in conditions where satellite signals are weakened or reflected by surrounding structures. The companies said recent global trials demonstrated that the integrated solution performed significantly better than standard commercial-grade GNSS systems in challenging operating environments.
