Altera has introduced post-quantum cryptography (PQC) support for its Agilex 3 and Agilex 5 FPGA families, aiming to help customers protect long-life systems against future threats posed by quantum computing.
The new capability is available immediately and extends quantum-resistant security across Altera’s FPGA portfolio. The company said the addition provides a security framework designed to adapt as cyber threats and cryptographic standards continue to evolve.
Agilex 3 and Agilex 5 devices now feature PQC-enabled secure boot functionality, allowing users to authenticate trusted device configurations while safeguarding systems that may remain in operation for many years. The secure boot capability is intended to address concerns that future quantum computers could compromise current encryption methods.
Alongside PQC-enabled secure boot, the devices include a range of security features managed through Altera’s Secure Device Manager (SDM). These features include bitstream encryption to protect intellectual property, physical anti-tamper measures, cryptographic key management, physically unclonable function (PUF) keys, embedded cryptographic engines and platform attestation capabilities.
